Those images of childhood in the 50's and 60's are so vivid it was as if I were reading my own diary. After finishing the book I felt like Kelly and Christi were friends from my youth. I can hardly wait to meet them again in the next book. A wonderful read as a work of fiction. An even more interesting read as a autobiographical work.

Hey, Dolly... Having read your first books, I eagerly awaited your latest, Prisoners of the Heart. Let me tell you what a surprise it was. Of course I expected the excitement and all the twists and turns that your splendid writing has a way of dangling before the reader... but Viet Nam? Here I was reading along, comfortably ensconced in small-town Mississippi when I was suddenly whisked away to battle-torn intrigue thousands of miles away. It was a trip.
